New to HamWan

I am new to this part of the hobby. I have been a ham since 1978 and I am now very involved in ARES. I have a Winlink RMS Hybrid Gateway and I was looking for an alternative to my Comcast internet, then I found HamWan. I read as much as I could and decided to take the plunge. I purchased the recommended Microtik equipment and it is assembled, (I will be mounting the antenna next Wed). I was trying to use Winbox to setup the router and something happened. I am now locked out and can no longer connect to the router ("Incorrect user name or password"). I think I can reset the router manually at the board and start the configuration all over again with a new router config process but I need some help with some of the steps. Watching K7MM's video answered many of my questions but the reset is still a question in my mind. How is it done? What happens after I complete the configuration? Hi all: I am new to this group and I tried to browse the previous threads to see if this was covered and did not see anything so if I missed it sorry. I have purchased the recommended Mikrotik radio and 30db dish, programmed it and I do see the HamWan channels in the Scan list. Yes I have the international version. I am shown in the HamWan coverage area according to the coverage map and I can in fact see Lookout Mtn from where I am at 120M elevation here in Maple Ridge BC. Used to connect to the 900 Mhz repeater there with a handheld on low power from here. Don't think the QTH is the problem. Took the dish and laptop up to do a ballpark test before permanent install but I am getting no signals on the HamWan channels. When I switch to Wifi I get dozens and dozens so it is working. Rotated dish 90 degrees just in case I had the polarity wrong, still nothing. Is Lookout still broadcasting North on 5920? Suggestions please, Scott VA7SL

If anyone is going up to Rattlesnake or Capital PEAK, I have a very simple task I would like someone to perform on my behalf. On both sites, there was a problem with my remote AC power switch. I would like someone to take a new part to the site, and swap out the one that is there already. I have new switches ready to go. Thanks. The building had power, but the new UPS was powered off. Its network control card had a light, indicating it was alive, just no network to link to. I pulled the 120V plug, and a relay clicked but UPS did not change state. I restored 120V power, and a relay clicked but UPS did not change state. I unplugged/replugged the display, and it flashed all LEDs and went back to indicating off state (no LEDs). Finally I pressed power button and everything powered back up normally. I suspected the UPS software had been unintentionally set to stay powered off after it ran out of battery juice, and then power was restored. I checked the settings thoroughly, and everything looks like it was set to tell the UPS to power back on after it had shut down from battery exhaustion. Only a test will verify this is indeed working as intended though. I started setting up event notification from the UPS and making sure our management system can monitor it too, and noticed something really weird. *The defaults in the UPS software apparently leave a write-enabled SNMP account with the default credentials of "private", with access allowed from anywhere (IP 0.0.0.0).* I'm now wondering if someone intentionally sent an SNMP write command to some OID that told the UPS to power off? Does anyone have experience with APC UPSes that can verify these insane defaults and that there is some OID that can command the UPS to power off? Rattlesnake DNR shack is down

It looks like the DNR building is completely without power. I tried to check if UPS2.Rattlesnake was on battery, but the DHCP server is in the DNR building so the UPS lost its lease. I'm about to head out here for something else, but maybe someone can stand up a temporary DHCP to get the UPS back online and check battery status. --Bart
