IP renumbering on Capitol Park sectors

As part of HamWAN plans to migrate to our larger allocation (44.25.x.x), we need to vacate addresses in use in 44.24. On impact of this is sector address pools for S1, S2 and S3 at Capitol Park. I will try to contact current users with static assignments but otherwise, I will be converting this site by this time next weekend unless someone raises a good case why I should delay. The new addresses will be 44.25.240.x and I will pre-assign static addresses for the active (connected) devices with static assignments currently. Thanks, -Doug- HamWAN NetOps

Haystack outage?

Is Haystack pointing SW towards Issaquah up? I’ve been unable to connect to Haystack from my QTH in Issquah (SW of Haystack) for the last couple of weeks. /interface wireless scan shows no network I went on the roof and see no signal on the routerboard. All connectors look good. 73 WF7U Paul

Compatibility of AC hardware with HamWAN

Back in Sept. 2021, I decided to connect with HamWAN's Puget Sound Data Ring (PSDR) in order to have Winlink capability in an emergency. Based on HamWAN's PDF comparing various devices that shows the QRT 5 ac along with many others http://hamwan.org/Standards/Component%20Engineering/Client%20Hardware/anten… < http://hamwan.org/Standards/Component%20Engineering/Client%20Hardware/anten… I decided to investigate if the QRT 5ac would work on the PSDR. Flytec Computers had it in stock and the salesperson assured me it would work or they would take it back and refund my money. So I purchased a MikroTik QRT 5ac flat panel antenna and had it operational on HamWAN's Puget Sound Data Ring (PSDR) using the guidance on http://hamwan.org/Standards/Network%20Engineering/Client%20Node%20Configura… and Dan K7MM Ransom's Feb. 2016 video http://hamwan.org/Standards/Network%20Engineering/Client%20Node%20Configura… demonstrating how to use the guidance. When I first turned it on, I found that within about 48 degrees of bearing the antenna was picking up three HamWAN sites: Gold (19 miles); Buck (30 miles) and Blyn (42 miles). Cloud cover on the Buck Mt. site Line of Sight (LOS) frequently reduces the signal strength to such a degree that it is dropped from the "scan" list. Depending on the weather and clouds, the QRT 5ac picks the best signal at any particular moment which was generally Gold. So Gold was the site which I kept the QRT 5ac pointed at. After Gold and Blyn were decommissioned, I pointed the QRT 5ac at Buck and Winlink messages would transmit within a few seconds even in bad weather. I did not keep the QRT 5ac on continuously as my primary interest was having emergency communications. Be sure to order the "International" version and not the "US" version. 73 Alan WX7L P.S. My issue began with the *Could not resolve DNS Name* error. When I ran */system "ntp client print"* I didn't get the affirmative status message. Researching some troubleshooting tips I first checked that the *Query Server Timeout was at 2.00 and Query Total Timeout at 10.00*. They were. After watching another troubleshooting video- under quick set tab I removed the IP in the address list and then changed from Router to Bridge then static to auto Now I can't log in via Winbox at all. What I'd like is to have an admin willing to remote into my CPU and rectify this. I'd be happy to pay. ricmerry(a)gmail.com

Howdy all, Wonder what the consensus is surrounding Mikrotik AC hardware compatibility. When the gear first came out I recall it was incompatible with the 10 and 5 MHz channel widths in use, wondering if that's still the case for the latest gear? It seems to be getting increasingly difficult to get a hold of non-AC hardware these days, so if any of the AC models are compatible it would be good to know about them. 73, Chris VE7ALB

Buck Mtn Down?

My connection to Buck Mtn has been down for about 12 hours. Yesterday it was down/up about 20 times. The Buck Mtn UHF repeater (K7DK) is up and running, so it's not a site wide power problem. 73, Dave K7DCJ
