Replacement server(s) for Baldi

Sorry for the short notice on this... We need to replace the server hardware at Baldi which has been offline for some time. It was providing some APRS services. The current hardware is too old to be serviceable and it's currently not working. We are planning a trip on Sunday. Does anyone have any small rack-mount servers ideally with iLO or similar functionality that we could get in the next day or two? -Doug-

Clients using legacy addresses

As part of our transition from addresses in 44.24.240/20 to our new IP allocation 44.25.0.0/16, we have moved a number of important services to new addresses. In particular DNS resolvers and NTP servers have been moved. Old DNS servers: 44.24.244.1, 44.24.245.1 New DNS servers: 44.25.0.1, 44.25.1.1 Old NTP servers: 44.24.244.4, 44.24.245.4 New NTP servers: 44.25.0.4, 44.25.1.4 If you have a DHCP server configuration on your HamWAN client or have statically configured these address on devices (HamWAN clients or devices behind HamWAN clients), you need to update these settings. The following hosts are known to be querying the old addresses: 8 44.25.143.120 2 aprs.crystal.hamwan.net 2 br44.r1.silkie.hamwan.net 13 minecraft.bartk.us 49 pnwrr.kd7tqn.baldi.hamwan.net 24 wan.wc7so-dstar.lookout.hamwan.net 3 wlan1.k7skw-lookout.hamwan.net 3 wlan1.s1-buck.ku7m.hamwan.net 7 wlan1.wa7aub-baldi.hamwan.net There are likely to be more, as not all devices are online all the time. HamWAN help wanted - FCC/spectrum watcher

HamWAN is looking for help. If you or someone you know in the amateur community monitors and/or participates in keeping tabs on changes in spectrum use and FCC proposed changes, we could use your help. The ever-changing use and utilization of spectrum by advancing technology continually has commercial interests pressing to acquire more frequencies to use, and HamWAN's spectrum is no exception. We can use a person or two to lend a hand with watching the FCC and industry news feeds for proposed changes that may affect our currently used spectrum inside and outside of the amateur bands, and keeping the Board, NetOps, and the general PSDR community in touch with what's going on. New subscriber introduction

Good morning. My name is Kevin Matthew. I am the repeater operator for Kitsap County DEM's 145.43 machine and I operate and manage 3 Winlink RMS gateways for them as well. Recently, the Kitsap County Amateur Radio Club (KCARC) asked me to join their technical committee and help them transition the Gold Mountain repeater site from WWARA to KCARC operation. We are at the stage where we are deploying a HamWan solution up on Gold Mountain to support 146.62 repeater operations. I also believe that KCARC has facilitated an introduction between you folks and Q13 Fox on getting a sector distribution site up there as well. I've had a couple of HamWan projects on the back burner for a while and getting a PSDR presence on Gold Mountain will allow me to push them forward. :-) I will, most likely, be needing help from this group as I get up to speed. On another note, the growing PSDR footprint in Kitsap County will increase the demands on the PSDR operations team. I am retired and have a lot of free time on my hands and would be willing to volunteer with the HamWan group provided I can get up to speed enough to be useful. My professional background is in IT Systems/Network Administration. I joined the City of Bremerton in 1989 as a Programmer/Unix Admin/Network Administrator. Took over as Manager in 2014 until I retired in 2019. The PSDR is more complex than what I ran for the City, but I learn quickly and a bit of handholding can go a long way. New HamWAN cell site - Mapleleaf Park

We are happy to announce that we have activated a new HamWAN cell site at the Mapleleaf Reservoir Park site in northeast Seattle. All three sectors are present. The cell has a primary backbone connection to Capitol Park and a backup link to Buck Mountain. We would like to recognize Seattle ACS and the City of Seattle for their support with this site. I'm in Brinnon, just below Buck Mtn. and get a feed from there. The air quality here at sea level goes from mediocre to bad, depending on the wind direction. Of course it's possible, but not likely, that it spreads to Buck Mtn. But the worst case is it goes East and gets into the Bonneville power lines. There it could take out power to the whole eastern and northern Olympic Peninsula. 2620 fire - potential impact to HamWAN operations

On Wednesday 8/14 a new fire started near Mt Jupiter on the Olympic peninsula near Brinnon, WA. In the last two days it has grown from 4 to ~350 acres. Details are still somewhat difficult to get as the fire is so new, but it's current position is about 5 miles south of the Buck Mountain site which serves a good bit of the Seattle area. At the moment the likelihood of getting that far is fairly low, but depends on how successful the containment efforts are. The forecast is a mixed blessing as rain is expected but is in the form of thundershowers Saturday into Sunday. Whether the rain helps or potential lightning and winds add to the problem is yet to be seen. Hello everyone, I have an international version RBLHG-5HPnD-XL available, purchased from Streakwave in December 2020. I configured it some when I got it but never fully connected to HamWan before the DNR lease issue and loss of the sector that I could have used. I'm assuming you can probably just hold down the reset button and start over with your own configuration, but almost anyone receiving this probably knows better than me.
