I just looked at the Reddit link and noted the bizarre and uneducated comments posted about a historic but vital AT&T system that gave us TV and long distance telephone communication for many year starting in the late forties through the 90's when replaced by fiber optic cable. Now that I think about it, there always used to be overhead cables or wires along the RR right of way. I had always assumed those were for RR communications. Perhaps I was wrong and they belonged to someone else who leased the space.
