I, along with another of our North Bend ARES Team hams, purchased our antennas from EuroDK, which we found to be both *much* faster delivery (3-5 days via FedEx from order placement) and less expensive than suppliers here in the US (most of whom were quoting a couple months back-order and 40-50% higher price).  I bought the LHG 5 and my buddy bought the SXTsq 5 (both international, ie not US versions), both are working well.  Here’s a link to that supplier which you may wish to compare: https://www.eurodk.com/en/products/antennas

As someone who recently purchased the hardware and got a node online, I purchased the router and radome via amazon. The shipper for the antenna was scheduled to take upwards of a month. I managed to find it for a little bit more on eBay with free priority shipping from Lithuania.

The configuration Doug sent is very easy and straightforward to follow.

First you need confirm you have line of site access to one of the HamWAN sectors (as discussed in this thread).  If you have that access, you will need your own client dish:

and a way of mounting it.

Finally, you will need to configure it:

Hi Doug. I’ve been a subscriber for some time. Watching, listening since being active on packet in the late 80’s thru 2001. I live in Port Ludlow where I would use The PTN node to connect to the digital world. That node doesn’t seem to be there any longer.

Can you advise how I can gain connectivity to a node in your network and thus access a bbs for mail?

Many thanks.

We would need your precise address/location to plot line of site vs. obstructions to one of the northern cell sites (Blyn, Lookout, SnoDEM(Paine)).

You can do this yourself using http://www.heywhatsthat.com/profiler.html, to map the path from your house to one of those sites.

We need to update the Sites page to have the cell site coordinates for you.

SnoDEM: Snohomish County Emergency Operations Center (47.923864°, -122.244374°) on a 150ft tower

Blyn: 48.005941,-122.972276 at roughly 90 ft.

Lookout: (I don't have this location)

Hello,

I'm interested in setting up a new node at my QTH. I would like some help in determining if my home has a feasible link. I'm in the North Arlington/Stanwood area. If it is feasible I'll buy the equipment necessary.

Thanks for you time,

Jeff (KM6ISJ)
