There are a number of folks in Seattle that have portable HamWAN gear and I’m sure someone would be glad to help you determine if you have a shot. I’m in the north end of Seattle and can loan you enough to test Gold, but it wouldn’t be good for a permanent setup (not enough gain).
The real key, absolutely essential, is VISIBLE LINE OF SIGHT to one of the sector panels. If you can look through binoculars and see the site, you can hit it. If not, it is very unlikely you could get a usable shot (unless you were very close). Your best shot, if you have it, would be Beacon. Second choice Capitol Park. Gold is a long distance, and there is another tower partially blocking the HamWAN sector aiming at Seattle, but several people in West Seattle have a good shot at Gold. I’m shooting at Gold, and get a very poor signal (using a 2 foot dish at my end). Part of the problem is I’m right on the edge of sector 1 and sector 2 (the sectors are 120 degrees wide, and signal at the edges is poorer than closer to the center). Part of the problem is Gold sectors have down-tilt, they are aimed down toward the area surrounding Gold on the peninsula, so Seattle is above the peak of the signal. And the last part of the problem is the blocking tower I mentioned. A person on Queen Anne has a beautiful view of Gold, but a relatively poor signal (usable but not fantastic). For all of these reasons, Gold is a last choice from Seattle if you have any view of Beacon or Capitol Park.
You are welcome to contact me directly if you want to arrange use of a flat panel HamWAN “dish” that can see Gold if there is line of sight. I know another person who lives south and I’m sure has some portable gear who could also help.

I did a quick look with CalTopo and it looks like Beacon Hill doesn’t quite work for the coordinates you gave. Gold you are right on the edge on. It appears as though you might be right on or over a ridge. With a bit more accurate positioning I can get a better idea for sure on Gold.
On the plus side, you appear to be right in a patch that gets lit up by Capitol Park. If someone closer to you doesn’t have some gear that you can test with, let me know. I have a grid combo I can loan you for testing, but I’m clear up in Granite Falls.
If you can shoot me an address, tighter GPS, and/or a height at your location I can get a better picture for you and send you a couple of pics.

Hi, I'm just reading up on HamWAN and considering getting connected. I see I'm in a reddish zone surrounded by white on the coverage map now and am wondering if my property would be a good place for a new cell/link site.
I'll have to do some tests to see, but I might have line of sight to Gold Mountain, and might be able to see Beacon Hill from a roof. I'm at approximately 47.569,-122.399.
Let me know if you have any recommendations on how to proceed; I don't want to invest in gear unless I know I'll be able to make it work.
