Requests for network configuration on sites should be sent to netops@hamwan.org. Please send: - Location where you want to install equipment - A description of the equipment - Contact information - MAC address There is usually DHCP services in place at HamWAN sites but not always. We can either configure a DHCP reservation based on the MAC (effectively a static address even though your device still uses DHCP) or assign you a classic static IP address.that you will need to program into your device.. -Doug-, KD7DK HamWAN Netop On Fri, Apr 12, 2019 at 9:29 PM Mark Weisenfeld <mark@weisenfelds.com> wrote:
I am K7TUM and I am a member of the Capitol Peak Repeater Gp. (NOT Capitol Park) Jeremy, on the board, and chief tech, asked me to cfg the VHF APRS digi/iGate that is to be installed on the peak. We are nearing completion of the equipment setup. It is operating from my QTH with the coord.s of the peak.
*Question:* We are delighted to use the HAMWAN Internet access already, for such things a s remote management, Echolink, and IP phone for Auto patch. However, Jeremy is not a network/IP tech, so he needs some help. He has never known how to ask for a static IP address, or a DHCP reservation for any of the equipment up there. BUT I CAN. We would like to put up this APRS iGate, but we need to be able to telnet to it AND view the web interface for management. How would we go about securing a stable address for that device? Can you give me one, or do you prefer I give you the MAC address, or maybe there is NAT at play and we need to "play" with it s'more. What do you prefer?
Thanks y'all.
