Carl, thanks for the feedback.  The idea was to drive to a known area to test the connection (mostly the configuration).  This modem (Node-2) was only pointed in the general area of Larch Mountain, with no real aiming.  It started to rain heavily and cut my experiment short.  I hope to make another attempt this week.

Yes, all testing was done individually.  I was told that Mikrotik 802.11ac modems do not support 5 and 10 MHz channels.  This maybe the problem with Node-1.  I was given a couple of commands from Tom Hayward to try and see if the modem supported HamWAN.  This test failed, and thus most likely will not work for HamWAN usage.

Scott,

The fact that you connected and had internet access says you were connected to a sector. Further, the frequency 5880 says you were connected to sector 3 (and that you were using an international version of the modem).

For your other node, did you have the scan list set correctly?  Also, your signal level on your Node-2 was only -85 which is pretty low. Is it possible you were just too far away (too weak a signal) for your Node-1 unit? And, I’m assuming you were not trying to use them both at the same time (from the same general location).

Today, I was able to connect my RB911G-5HPacD (Node-2) to the Larch Mnt site.  I setup the portable modem at the PUD Operation Center at 8600 NE 117th Avenue, Vancouver, Washington.  Here are the connection details:

channel: 5880/5/an
wireless-protolcol: nv2
tx-rate: 1.62Mbps-5MHz/15
ssid: HamWAN
radio-name:S3.Larch/K7WAN
signal-strength: -85dBm
noise-floor: -10dBm
current-distance: 21
last-ip: 44.24.244.1

I was able to connect, verify Internet using HamWAN, verify DNS, and verify NTP synchronization.  It started to rain heavy, so the fun was ended early than expected.

However, the RBLHGG-5acD (Node-1) would not locate any sector modems.  I verified it was the International version and updated to lastest software and firmware.  But did notice the WiFi Interfaces reported multiple unsupported channels and the following:

-- in scan-list does not contain valid channels
  -- empty scanlist

Does anyone know what is causing this problem?  If so, what is the fix.
