Sounds frustrating. Last time I did a hardware reset for the BaseBox5, the instructions seemed kinda vague. And, if you hold the reset button down too short or too long, you'll go into a different hardware mode. And after reset, I could _only_ reconnect with winbox, IIRC there was no ip interface enabled/configured.
Don't worry, the hardware is probably not ruined, and if it is, it is probably not your fault. Try double-checking hardware reset instructions again, make sure you're doing it right. I think I tried resetting about 10 times before getting it right.
