HamWAN's goal this summer was to deploy as many
sites as possible. Thanks to the help of a few dedicated
volunteers, three sites are now operational and ready to
route your packets. The next step is for you to get
connected!
I have put a lot of time into developing coverage maps to
help you determine if your home or repeater site is within
the current coverage area. Nigel has developed a database of
current connections to HamWAN and signal surveys. This data
has all been integrated into a map on the home page, please
check it out:
https://www.hamwan.org/t/tiki-index.php
You can click each node to see its link status. Blue links
are currently online. Gray links are surveys completed with
a portable HamWAN client setup (grid antenna, tripod, modem,
and laptop). The current distance record for this setup is
101 miles (163 km). Way to go Bart--that's some serious 5.9
GHz DX!
If it looks like you are in the coverage area (or not!),
please try to connect. We would like to collect as many data
points possible to verify signal strength and link quality.
A network is only as useful as its participants make it.
