Your not wanting much. So we need an elevated location that can also house a un-weather proof amp? :-). I need to think about this, is there a reason we can't use hard line ? I may have a 35 foot run of 1/2 inch that just needs a N connector put on one end. Still not great at 6ghz, but better then LM400.
Sent from my iPadGood stuff! Try to grab it from a place where we might leave a dish, and house a yet-to-be-weather-proofed amplifier. *Short* runs of LMR400 might be OK, but the attenuation/ft is really high @ 6GHz. The amplifier looks a little like this, and it makes noise when it runs:

We'll dangle a 5SHPn modem with a 20dB attenuator off the RF INPUT port, and then attach the antenna to the RF OUTPUT port. We'll have to turn down the power on the radio to just +20dBm so as not to saturate the amplifier. It only needs about 0dBm for full +40dBm output.

This picture really sucks, since it was taken free hand with my iPhone, but it sort of give you an idea of the shot to the radio towers. This is taken from my front yard, the red 'dots' are the lights on the towers to keep planes from flying into them.
It is suppose to be clear tomorrow, so I'll try to grab a better picture in the morning.

I would be lying if I said the location wasn't a big part of why we picked the house. :-)

Got pix of the towers from your location? When might I be able to come over and inspect the situation in person?

Hi all,
Is there anyone on list who lives close to Cougar and has a clean line of sight to it? Issaquah highlands, Sammamish plateau, etc? I'm looking for a volunteer to point some equipment @ Cougar towers from a nearby ground location. We'll leave it installed for 2-4 weeks to run the experiment.
Oh, and the experiment has to do with scatter communications, utilizing radio towers as reflectors. You'll get a 30dBi dish and a 10W 6GHz amplifier for a whopping 10kW EIRP. It'll send out beacons with your callsign, and we'll try to pick them up around the Puget Sound.
Fun times!
Let me know if you can help,
