Questions from poking around Cacti view of network?
I was going through the graphs/data available via Cacti server and had few questions. 1) What are the Rainier and Tacoma PTP links for on Baldi? Both are showing no traffic recently, are they for future growth? 2) There are three PTP links at Paine I was curious about. I'm guessing the 'Monroe' link is really Bart's client node. But is the Shoreline and 'Bruce' PTP links purpose? The Shoreline link is showing lots of traffic, is that the uplink from the Westin? 3) There seems to be a big hole in the data in the last 24 hours, any idea what happen? Seems to impact all the data sources, so probably something on the server side? Thanks Kenny

Yes, future growth. Tacoma was supposed to link to my house as a tunnel to one of our edge routers, but the path didn't work out. It's available to serve that purpose from another location. Rainier/Cascade is also unused at the moment. It has line-of-sight to Baw Faw, if someone can make that happen.

Monroe is a link from Paine to Bart's house, which then tunnels to the edge routers. Shoreline is a link from Paine to Nigel's house, which then tunnels to the edge routers. All of the SNMP also happens over this link, so that's likely the traffic you see. Bruce is pointed toward Salt Spring Island, BC. Hopefully BCWARN will be linking to that soon, making us an internationally-peered network!

Keep the link available that can reach Baw Faw. I am working to build a link from Portland(or even as far South as Salem or Corvallis) to end up at Baw Faw. That will allow our planned Portland Network to connect to the Puget Sound Group. Still not a solid Plan yet; but trying. Ken Tolliver K7ICY Tigard Oregon

Progress stalled on Baw Faw when the Baw Faw Repeater Group realized that DNR would count the HamWAN modems as additional transmitters, which requires a modification of their lease--or something like that. We'd love to expand the network in every direction. So far the biggest blocker has been negotiating [free] lease agreements. An RF path to Corvallis would be very cool. We've got an edge router (tunnel endpoint) there. Tom
Thanks!

There was a period yesterday when hamwan.org was expired and pointing to the registrar's DNS servers. They don't run a list called PSDR, so that's probably why you received the error message. Everything should be back to normal now. Tom
