[HamWAN Board] VOTE: Approve Digital Fortress Colocation Contract
Hello, We've been offered space and bandwidth at a local datacenter provider, who has also offered to allow us roof access to place two uplink dishes into our RF network. We are in the final steps with Digital Fortress, and are ready to sign the contract with them. They are offering the datacenter space, roof space, bandwidth, and power at no cost to us, with the provisions that we provide standard liability insurance (make sure our insurance covers them), and that we provide a link using their logo on our website recognizing their sponsorship. The board has been provided with a copy of the contract in question, and I am prepared to sign on behalf of the organization and send in the paperwork. This vote is for board member approval of HamWAN entering into this contract with Digital Fortress. Voting begins now and will end in twenty four hours. Board members, please respond with your votes. My vote is YAY. Nigel
Nigel, Has the liability insurance policy already been purchased? How much coverage is Digital Fortress requesting? Thanks Kenny On Tue, Dec 30, 2014 at 10:09 PM, Nigel Vander Houwen <nigel@k7nvh.com> wrote:

Kenny, They are requesting $1M in insurance. We have been in the process of acquiring insurance for general organization protection anyway, and this value will be covered under the policy we're examining. I believe Cory will have a separate vote in the near future regarding the board approving the spending on liability insurance. The insurance requirement has been something we've been able to bypass at other sites, but for the protection of the members of the organization, as well as to ease interactions with other organizations, it's something we're getting taken care of. Thanks, Nigel

Other than the obvious 'cart before the horse' situation with the insurance, it all sounds like goodness. (What happens if Cory's motion fails?) Thanks Kenny On Tue, Dec 30, 2014 at 10:39 PM, Nigel Vander Houwen <nigel@nigelvh.com> wrote:

With three of four board members voting YAY so far, we have a majority, and I will move forward with sending in the paperwork. Thank you for participating. Kenny, DF is aware of the situation and has specifically agreed to move forward with the paperwork while we finish up the insurance end of things. If Cory's motion were to fail, we would need to find another suitable solution the Board can agree on. Insurance is something we should have as an organization ignoring the needs from external parties, and is something we'll get taken care of. Thanks to all! Nigel
