Re: [HamWAN PSDR] New Node - Guidance on buying hardware and feasibility of link from my QTH
That's a good idea Dale. Please let me know what you find out. Also, Doug, thank you for that idea. Pending that tower camera idea, I'll go ahead and get the gear and if it doesn't work for me I'll donate it to the team for someone else to make use of. We can also look in that direction with the tower camera to see if the hill obscures your QTH. If the camera at the top of the tower can't see it, the sector lower on the tower most definitely will not.

Yes, I'm a little concerned about this hill. I don't know the site, is this hill cleared by the elevation of the sector antenna?

Thank you all for the help. It looks like I can make a link work from my place to Blyn. I'll order the antenna and radio.

As someone who recently purchased the hardware and got a node online, I purchased the router and radome via amazon. The shipper for the antenna was scheduled to take upwards of a month. I managed to find it for a little bit more on eBay with free priority shipping from Lithuania.
The configuration Doug sent is very easy and straightforward to follow.

First you need confirm you have line of site access to one of the HamWAN sectors (as discussed in this thread). If you have that access, you will need your own client dish:
http://hamwan.org/Standards/Component%20Engineering/Client%20Hardware.html and a way of mounting it. Finally, you will need to configure it:
