2) Curt got us a 50 minute presentation @ SeaPac!!! Details forthcoming. He'll forward background image to Ben for banner creation, and will submit own design if possible.
BANNER DESIGN MUST BE SUBMITTED TOMORROW
You're getting well prepared for these presentations.... Here's a techy local event asking for presentations that's sadly lacking any HAM radio presence... http://linuxfestnorthwest.org/ I've attended the last few of the Linux fests. It's not great but it's not bad and a good excuse to get out to do something different. There has been talk of a Xastir demo but nobody has had the time. 73 Bill - WA7NWP

THANK YOU Bart - for your efforts. That's the best advertisement for "HAM radio has something to offer" I've seen in years. I bet we get lots of great response from it. 73 Bill - WA7NWP
I agree. Getting those words out to the right audience is something I've been yearning to do for a long time. ARRL should be funding this kind of outreach! --Bart On 03/06/2013 11:15 AM, Bill Vodall wrote:

I can't attach the file I would like to suggest for the Banner background. I couldn't find the one I used for the West Seattle ARC www.westseattlearc.org which I thought might be nice... I only seem to have flattened versions after I added the W7AW callsign in HarryPotter font... Could the guy who helpfully offered to work on it send me an email to wr5j@arrl.net Or if you have a way to get a 50 meg file, just let me know ... FTP? Where is that multi-megabit network when you need one... Curt, your message was held up since you used a non-subscribed email address to send it. I've approved the message + address now. However, since I still don't have a design from you or Ben, the business day is nearly over, and I really don't wanna go in there without a banner, I've placed an order for a PLAIN JANE 8'x2' table banner from esigns. It should arrive Friday, and it's WAY cheaper than FedEx! FedEx wants $15/sqft. This cost me $133 with overnight delivery being $75 of that. Screw FedEx. I also ordered SHIRTS! Le Wife did a simple logo design. You can see it here: http://www.cafepress.com/cp/customize/product2.aspx?number=799986670 I ordered 4 large with overnight for Friday. Blam $164. That's enough for HamWAN board of directors and 1 left over for...I'm not sure. Should we give it away, raffle it, bestow it upon someone? :) Overall about $300 of promotional materials for Flea Market + hopefully future events too. Event registration was about $100 I think. Weee disappearing money! (No, none of this was from HamWAN budget) --Bart On 03/06/2013 12:38 PM, Black, Curt wrote:

Bart, Nice looking shirt - I like the logo. I would have gone with more color - hams are not good with white since they tend to be big, look bigger in white and frequently are observed to be grease stained. Lime green or red are more photo and videogenic... but, in a pinch these look fine! It will be helpful if the promotional stuff can stay off the books in "donation space" so as to keep your "overhead" costs as low as possible for the 501c3 designation and ultimate acceptance to donors... it can be really hard to recover when "overhead" gets a head start. Just information - see you tomorrow by 2:30pm in Puyallup. You might get a briefing from Bill, KL7BB - 206 400-1723 - he has many years of experience with the event and can give you info on how to drive right into the fairgrounds. That should help. I haven't offered to help with moving the big pieces, despite having a kayak rack on the roof of my car due to my early departure at 2pm on Saturday. If you end up with problems in the mobilization stage, give me a call and I can move some of the stuff on my roof rack. Just not sure what to do for the demobe Saturday afternoon... but at least I could help get things there. Did you take a look at the westseattlearc.org banner design - that is the sort of background I'm picturing with 3-D lettering on top - maybe drop shadows. I'm not as enamored of the antenna-wielding pig... cute, but serious could serve us better with a wider audience. Very little time for the last two weeks - I can explain more tomorrow. See you then, vy 73 de WR5J Curt Black - 206 755-4541c wr5j@arrl.net<mailto:wr5j@arrl.net> <<<===== please use this address for everything... Thanks! Happy to be wrong about that. This could be an interesting year at LFNW. It's interesting to contemplate what you have to talk about. I'll make a list (off list) and see how it matches up. 13 hours 34 minutes until leaving for Mike and Key hamfest (+/- and hour or two...) Bill
