Rattlesnake HamWan Status
Administrator: Can you advise on he status of the Rattlesnake HamWan Site, when will it be operational again? Thank you Aiden / KJ7IRL
Aiden et al, Rattlesnake has been decommissioned due to an issue with the lease at the site. There are no known alternatives/plans at the moment for a replacement. We are obviously disappointed with the situation, but always remain open to new opportunities. Thanks, Nigel HamWAN

Nigel, is it an issue of increased lease cost? If yes, perhaps we can find a way to get funding. Is it an issue of unacceptable non-monetary terms? If yes, perhaps we can help find an alternate site that works for everyone. Please advise. Stephen, This has been an extended issue over the spring/summer, and while we generally try to be as open as possible, I don’t want to get too deep into the mud. The summary is that there was an issue with the existing lease, we asked DNR if we could resolve it, and they were unable to give us a lease at any reasonable cost due to budgetary issues between them and the legislature, and we’ve been forced to remove our equipment from the site. HamWAN has enough budget to pay the lease had it been available and reasonable, it simply wasn’t an option. If you know of any alternative sites, please contact us at netops@hamwan.org <mailto:netops@hamwan.org> so we’re not bothering the whole mailing list, and we’d be pleased to look into it with you.
