SW Washington - Wahkiakum County

I would like to talk with someone about extending hamwan into Wahkiakum County for emergency network use. I have access to an 800' peak along the Columbia river with line-of-site to Naselle towers which should be able to reach Bafaw. My location is currently used as a transmitter for a WISP with 300 Mbps internet service at the site. I can cover NW Oregon, as well as the Wahkiakum county area quite well. hamwan availability

Hi Folks, A couple of years ago we at the Lake Washington Ham Club looked at using Hamwan for our limited connectivity needs. At the time, there didn't appear to be very good coverage at our site. I looked at it again today, and the coverage looks much better (the black square is our site... 47.663751°, -122.166478°). [image: image.png] Does the map account for trees? Are there any height requirements for the antenna? We have a huge water tank about 20 feet east of the building. We do have a tower, but getting the hamwan antenna up there would be a challenge. Is there a way we could do a site survey? We don't have a large bandwidth need. All we need is support for Echolink, Telnet, and (for now) IRLP, as well as AllStar in the future. Heat map for Tulalip site.

It has been in operation for years. It is used currently at Cougar in Buildings E and K, by WWATS, SeaTac RA and SnoVARC.(Western Washington Amateur Television Society, SeaTac Repeater Association, and Snoqualmie Valley Amateur Radio Club). I have a plan to extend its reach to Building M, if needed. Depending on Burt Guillot's needs, it is likely that I can connect him to our network without too much trouble. Hello, I've come to realize that games seem compatible with Part 97. So let's run a test of this on HamWAN. I've setup a Minecraft Bedrock server on "minecraft.hamwan.net" port 19133. The world has been initiated from the seed "HamWAN". :) If you'd like to build some ham radio related world, please join and have a go. I expect many antennas! I've set the game rules to pvp=off (no hitting each other), and showcoordinates=true (so people can find each other). I'd like to hear reports of how the gaming experience is over HamWAN, so access to the server is limited to ARDC addresses only. That is, you've gotta be connecting from 44.0.0.0/9 or 44.128.0.0/10 address space. Have fun! And remember, don't dig down <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJQclHtsEE8>. --Bart
