Hello, I am wanting to get some advice on the equipment I need to get onto Hamwan. I have read the information on the website and attended a presentation back in the fall to the Seattle ACS group. It was my understanding that some of the suggestions on the list were no longer current or available. I am considering the LHG 5 antenna but the cost on the website is about 3 times the cost noted on the HamWan site so....Suggestions? Thoughts? The Streakwave link shows the current cost of the international version at $54, a dollar less than the hamwan site shows? https://www.streakwave.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=RBLHG-5nD I suspect that would be a great unit for most situations around here. I do see there are some selling on Amazon for a great deal more, but that is likely due to it all being marketplace sellers, and the prices may be automatically inflated when availability is low (e.g. the international version is out of stock from Amazon directly, etc.) but the client hardware page on hamwan.org links to the above Streakwave item Ian Gallagher

Hi Ian, I was wondering if you can suggest someone to contact regarding assistance in getting my Hamwan station up and working. I followed through all the instructions but in the end when I initiate the scan command it says it can't find any stations (or frequencies) or something like that. I emailed one of the people referenced in the video I watched (K7MM) and received no response..... Thanks, Mark On Sun, Jan 7, 2018 at 11:14 PM, Ian Gallagher <cdine@cdine.org> wrote:

That perhaps sounds like the scanlist problem the current firmware versions exhibit - specifying the scanlist via the CLI doesn’t apply it correctly, and you need to use the Winbox or webfig GUI to apply that one setting. The client configuration guide mentions this causally - try that out. Otherwise, the best way to get in touch is their IRC chat room - http://hamwan.org/#online-chat-room Ian Gallagher KE7MAP

Let us know how the LHG 5 works, $54 sounds fantastic, much cheaper than my rig. This setup worked really well for me, just powered up on Friday: $80 Mikrotik BaseBox 5 RB912UAG-5HPnD-OUT 5GHz Outdoor Wireless AP Gigabit USB OSL4 http://a.co/9U1koAm $150 MikroTik mANT30 parabolic dish antenna 5GHz 30dBi MTAD-5G-30D3 http://a.co/01zPgMP ---- but I strongly recommend buying the version with the precision alignment kit. The correct part number ends in "-PA" The base is made out of some scrap material, unistrut, and a 6' fence post. Use a level to plumb the mast before hanging the dish. With MIMO gear, your feed's vertical and horizontal axes need to be plumb and level. Make sure your gear is MIMO compatible. BC Internail HamWAN (http://www.hamwan.ca) uses the LHG5, the LHG5HP and the LHG5HP-XL for a large number of the clients. So far the experiences have been good. I would not recommend this combination at a high-level site where it may be exposed to icing etc as they have nowhere near the same build quality as the mANT-30's (plastic mesh vs all metal etc) On Mon, Jan 8, 2018 at 11:30 AM, Dylan Ambauen <dylan@ambauen.com> wrote:

Hello, I am trying to get a Hamwan node setup and I have run into an issue that I can't seem to solve. I have followed the directions step by step but when I get to the final stage and go to connect I get a problem with there being no frequencies in the scanlist. I have heard this may be a know bug. I was hoping that someone might be able to provide a documented work around. Thanks, Mark On Sun, Jan 7, 2018 at 10:07 PM, Mark Tellez <mark.tellez@gmail.com> wrote:

Mark, I have found that running this command instead works to resolve the issue /interface wireless set 0 disabled=no frequency-mode=superchannel band=5ghz-onlyn mode=station scan-list="HamWAN" ssid=HamWAN wireless-protocol=nv2 Note the quotes around the scan-list value. Alternatively setting the scan-list value in winbox usually works. On Wed, Jan 24, 2018 at 11:50 AM, Mark Tellez <mark.tellez@gmail.com> wrote:

Thanks for that Stephen - I mentioned your finding to the HamWAN folks on IRC and they've updated the client node configuration page to include the quoted version (step 19). Ian Gallagher
