Latest recommendation for Cat 5e/6 outdoor rated cable
I thought this information was at https://hamwan.org <https://hamwan.org/> somewhere but I can’t locate it. What make and model of Cat 5E/6 cable do you recommend for outdoor (exposed to sunlight) use? We’re looking at an outdoor run of no more than 200 feet to get to our dish/router. I’d appreciate recommendations for shielded RJ45 connectors, too. Thanks and 73, Steve Magnuson AG7GN

Steve, There are all sorts of outdoor rated cable options that will work perfectly fine. We end up mostly using Ubiquiti TC-PRO (https://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-Networks-TOUGHCable-Shielded-Ethernet/dp/B00...) because it meets our outdoor & shielded requirements, and works well with our tower hardware. No reason you have to make the same choice though. Nigel

I’ve used Cables4Sure 04100-BL Cat5e Outdoor Black Above Ground Bulk Cable sitting on my asphalt shingle roof for 2.5 years without a problem. However I learned that a mouse can easily eat through the wiring - I use the same wiring for outdoor POE cameras. The chewed cable was on the ground in my forested backyard.
