I got a message from the Anacortes Salvation Army today experiencing the exact same issues with their phone as mine so either it's a heck of a coincidence or... Our SNOM 821's light up like a Christmas tree, have no dial tone or operative buttons and repeatedly un/re-plugging makes no difference. I'm thinking we have a network problem of some sort. We both aim at Lookout Bellingham. Thanks in advance for any help. Ric Merry, K7ITE. Mount Vernon WA
Ric, I agree it’s an odd coincidence. I have checked connectivity through Lookout as well as the VOIP server, and both are looking good at this time. I hate to point at the phones since you’ve seen two with this issue, but no display at all is problematic and initial checks of the network and server look ok. I will note that I am not familiar with the SNOM phones, so I can’t speak to their behavior. Nigel

I have had two Snom phones die on me in the Seattle area. Not simultaneously, and not very recently. I would bet on bad phones myself. On Tue, Mar 22, 2022, 6:11 PM Ric Merry <ricmerry@gmail.com> wrote:

My SNOM 821 is working fine (and I just rebooted it to make sure). -Doug- On Tue, Mar 22, 2022 at 6:52 PM Carl Leon <carl@n7kuw.com> wrote:

It has been down more than up the past week or so. It is down right now (at least my extension is not registering with it). I have a Grandstream VOIP PBX I can contribute to the cause, would probably require change of extensions. I can set it up at the Seattle EOC which has multiple HamWAN connections. First it froze, then it was rebooted and the HA software screwed up somehow, then HA software was bypassed and it ran for a few days, then it ran out of RAM and deadlocked, then I rebooted it and gave it more RAM, and then it refused to boot up at all. It's been an ordeal of Ubuntu 14. It needs to be either rescued via Live CD or rebuilt from scratch at this point, since it's not booting. If anyone has an insightful idea for dealing with this frozen boot screen, it'd be great: --Bart On 5/2/2022 7:05 PM, Carl Leon wrote:

OK, looks like I have it working. To fix it, I disabled drbd, since there is no HA failover peer anymore to share files with. drbd was blocking boot process. I also disabled pacemaker, which was preventing asterisk from communicating with the outside somehow. I migrated the pacemaker anycast IPs directly into Ubuntu eth0:0 and eth0:1 aliases. Verified my phone registers now, and can get into the conference call service. Since I basically ripped out HA to make this work, I'm gonna disable a few more services to optimize / speed up the boot process. Corosync and ha_logd and whatever else. Things will be back for good in a few more reboots. --Bart On 5/2/2022 7:12 PM, Bart Kus wrote:

I'm done putzing with it. It boots quickly now. I've also added open-vm-tools so that the shutdowns / reboots are clean, and we can see all the bound IPs. Also took a couple snapshots in case we need to restore in future. --Bart On 5/2/2022 8:24 PM, Bart Kus wrote:

I’ll be in and out of the system tonight and over the next few days as I copy extension configs to spin up a new instance for NetOps to look over. Let me know how many extensions you’re after.
